Dallas Cowboys

Dallas Cowboys Information

With 18 years of head coaching experience, Bill Parcells’ leadership abilities appear to be one of the main reasons for the 2005-2006 Dallas Cowboys’ success. After struggling through the previous six seasons with only trip to the playoffs, the Cowboys are making a gradual return to the upper echelon of the National Football League. With a reinvigorated crowd at Texas Stadium, Dallas Cowboys football tickets are some of the hottest tickets in professional football.

This type of success is no surprise for fans in Dallas; it’s expected. The tradition of football greatness began under head coach Tom Landry in 1960. Landry’s 20 consecutive winning seasons earned him third place among NFL coaches for most wins, and his five trips to the Super Bowl set the standard for the Cowboys. Under his guidance, Hall of Fame quarterback Roger Staubach broke numerous NFL passing records, and the Cowboys won their division, the NFC East, 13 times.

Immediately after Landry’s departure in 1988, Jimmy Johnson assumed the role of head coach and built another dynasty on a triple threat: quarterback Troy Aikman, running back Emmitt Smith, and wide receiver Michael Irvin. This offensive firepower returned Dallas to the glory it had enjoyed in the 1970s, making eight trips to the playoffs and selling out 79 consecutive home games over nine years. The Cowboys won Super Bowls XXVII, XXVIII, and XXX and sent 32 players to the esteemed Pro Bowl over three years, the most of any NFL team over the course of three years. Aikman’s 90 wins during the decade marked him with the most wins of any starting quarterback in a single decade, and Smith eventually shattered the NFL’s all-time rushing record, retiring with over 17,000 yards.

Some of the greatest players in the history of the NFL have called Dallas home, including Staubach, Hall of Fame running back Tony Dorsett, and Hall of Fame defensive back Randy White. The Cowboys have made eight trips to the Super Bowl, which is more than any other NFL team. Owner Jerry Jones, one of the most determined executives in professional sports, works to bring the sport’s best players and coaches to Dallas. With the most recent addition of emerging star running back, Julius Jones and veteran wide receiver, Terry Glenn, Jones’ ambition is paying off for the Cowboys.

Almost a decade has passed since the last Super Bowl victory, but the 2005-2006 Cowboys are beginning to mirror the old offense that stymied opposing defenses and the same defense that dominated the NFL. Parcells’ coaching techniques, which have helped win championships with two previous teams and earned him a spot in the top 10 for all-time victories among coaches, have returned Cowboys tickets to the same status that they enjoyed during the team’s past decades of NFL impeccability. While this year’s team will miss the playoffs, they will do so with a winning record and a strong hope for even more improvement next season. With Drew Bledsoe at the helm of the team’s offense and DeMarcus Ware leading the defensive attack, fans in Dallas are witnessing the resurgence of professional football in their city.
